Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) NRD guide is a transmission medium for construction of high performance millimeter-wave integrated circuits. This guide has good advantages such as low loss nature and no radiation at curved sections and discontinuities. To date, active devices of NRD guide such as a frequency converter and an ASK modulator have been successfully fabricated by using an NRD guide beam-lead diode mount, which consists of two rectangular shaped electrodes installed in the cross-section of the NRD guide. Although a high permittivity thin sheet was inserted between the NRD guide and diode-mount to obtain a good impedance matching, it was generally costly. To develop cost-effective NRD guide active devises, we studied a new type of diode-mount without high permittivity thin sheets. In the new diode-mount, the beam-lead-type schottky barrier diode was loaded between two electrodes, which was provided in a vertical strip line connected with the transformer between an NRD guide and a vertical strip line.
