Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) IEC 61508 regulates requirements for the purpose of achievement of functional safety. This is translated into Japanese as JIS C 0508. In this standard, it is required to examine the relationship between failure rates of SRS(Safety Related System) and reduction of risk. Failures are classified into safe and dangerous failures. If the total failure rate is constant, it is a significant factor to achieve a necessary Safety Integrated Level (SIL) by means of higher safe failure rates. On the other hand, if safety failures bring on EUC(Equipment Under Controlled), it will be possible to have a big economic risk. From the above viewpoints, the authors study the relationships between safe and dangerous failures as well as the risk reduction achieved by SRS.
