Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) To transport high-capacity IP traffic economically, our research group proposed the next generation network architecture, the Multi-layer Service Network (MLSN). MLSN architecture is a new technique coordinating optical technologies such as OXCs and packet process IP technologies. MLSN also manages and controls resource of several layers in an integrated fashion by GMPLS protocol. One of the keys for CAPEX (capital expenditure) savings is "Multi-layer traffic engineering (MLTE)" technology, which reconfigures VNT realized by a sets of optical paths, according to traffic demands in order to optimize network performance. In this paper, considering various conditions of realizing MLTE in a real network, we evaluate the impact of MLTE on CAPEX savings and clarify the quantitative advantage.
