Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper describes research using a basic experiment on ultrasonic levitation. A stepped circular vibrating plate was used to generate high intensity ultrasound field at the frequency of 20kHz and 27kHz. The sound pressure level up to 160dB was obained in a standing wave field. Liquid droplets and small columns were inserted at the node of sound pressure distribution, the dimensions of samplea and rotation were measured by a high frame rate image camera. It was clearly found that there were three types of deformation of liquid particles by increasing the intensity of ultrasound. We captured the streaming ongoing to the head and tail of the levitated particles. Thus, it was found that this streaming was the important milestone to determine the shape of droplet.
