On the Three Dimensional Vector Autoregressive model

Abstract(in English) To recognize three dimensional (3D) objects, the invariance and covariance of extracted features from objects under certain transformation are quite important quantities. Because these features could resolve some pattern recognition problems of image understanding. To extract such features, we present the 3D vector autoregressive (VAR) model. This 3D VAR model is constructed on the quaternion, which is the basis of the rotation group in two dimensional complex space, and defined as the external products of 3D data and the autoregressive (AR) coefficients, unlike the conventional AR models. The 3D VAR coefficients defined as this way behave like vectors under any 3D and therefore these values are useful for the estimation of 3D rotation. In this paper, we also present the recursive computation of 3D VAR coefficients. This method reduce the cost of computation of of VAR coefficients. Furthermore, we simulate the estimation of 3D rotation by the 3D VAR coefficients to show that 3D VAR coefficients are one of the efficient data compression of 3D point data. we also define the partial correlation (PARCOR) vectors for the 3D VAR model from the point of view of data compression for pattern recognition.
