Quality and Evaluation about MPEG-4 Audio Coding

Abstract(in English) In this paper, we have assessed the quality of MPEG-4 standard TwinVQ (6,16,24kbit/s and so on) comparing to the other international standard. The TwinVQ audio coding is able to be used as a single codec or a scalable codec, and we can select monaural or stereo. As a result of evaluation by MOS, we confirmed that our codec was equal or better than the MPEG-2 layer3 at the bit rate of 8,16,24kbit/s. In our scalable codec, the band width is planned to be wide when the total bit rate increases. But, normally coded sound is tend to be noisy when the bandwidth is wide at the same bit rate. So, the evaluation method for an appropriate choice of the bandwidth and bit rate is difficult. In this paper, we evaluate the coded sounds which have a variety of bandwidth by MOS. And we examined the effect of MOS comparing to CMOS.
