Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In the Internet which has grown rapidly, realization of high speed transmission and QoS guarantee has become one of the most important issues. Many router vendors have announced gigabit router to meet with this requirement of high speed transmission. On the other hand, IETF has completed Diffserv specification to realize QoS guarantee in large-scale IP networks such as the Internet. It has been the most important issue for Gigabit router to realize QoS control functions for Diffserv. Diffserv functions are composed of packet classifier, shaper and policing function. This paper describes an architecture of gigabit router which realize these functions at high speed. In addition, this paper proposes transition scenario from legacy IP networks to Diffserv compliant networks.
