Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Sign language is one of communication tools for the hearing impaired people, and is a kind of visual language. Since the articulators for sign are expressed in three-dimensional space with non-manual signals, they have the linguistic characteristics different from those in vocal languages. Recentry interest for sign increases and sign language informatics attracts attention. On the other hand fixed descriptions for the articulation of signs are not established yet. Because history of analysis for sign by linguistics and engineering was short, research of sign language had not been fully. In this report, I survey it about our idea for notational system with linguistic characteristics of sign, new notational system for JSL utterances which is the center subject of SiLE. And I survey it about research trend of bidirectional translation system between Japanese and JSL in some laboratories.
