Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This article addresses an issue on stimulus construction or presentation in psychological research on the perception and recognition of facial expressions of emotion. First of all, this article reviewed existing research and pointed out that the traditional media for presenting stimuli (facial expressions) had a difficulty in antinomonic nature between fidelity (reality) and experimental manipulation. Secondly, the article reviewed the recent development of facial image processing technology, especially facial image synthesis technology, and indicated that the technology would seem to provide a solution of the antimony above. Finally, the article reported the current state of ongoing works using the modern technology.
