| Abstract(in English) | We have developed the optical video disc recorder "GigaStation" for the first time in the world. To realize a high density recording of 5.2GB on 12cm disc, we developed many technologies such as a high S/N media with land/groove tracks, a PRML read signal detection with 1-7RLL code and a high performance optical head. Also, we developed a data format suitable for a video recording using a variable-bit-rate MPEG-2 image coding. A high performance video recorder having a flexible editing functions, multi-speed playback functions and quick accessing times has been achieved. |
