A Method of Corpus-based Metaphoricity Detection

Abstract(in English) We have already done a research concerning to recognition of metaphorical expressions using a knowledge base obtained from corpus. In this approach, a metaphorical expression can be recognized by salience measurement between source and target elements. However, all test data were actual metaphorical expressions and there is no method to detect metaphor form metaphor candidates. We propose a method to detect metaphoricity using statistical measurements, In our method, metaphoricity is recognized by comparison between semantic similality and salience feature of two elements. In the experiment, we use dice coefficient for semantic similality and salience feature based on prototype theory.
