Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper experimentally evaluated the BER performance of high rate data transmission such as 64 and 384 kbps using turbo/convolutional coding in multipath fading channels for W-CDMA mobile radio, It was found from the laboratory experiments using fading simulator that the required average transmit E_b/N_0 for the average BER of 10^<-6> using turbo coding is decreased by approximately 1.0-1.8 dB and 1.8-2.0 dB for 64 and 384 kbps compared to the case using convolutional coding when the channel interleaving length of 80 msec for G_D=5-200Hz. Filed experimental results showed that the required average transmit power for the average BER of 10^<-6> using turbo coding is decreased by approximately 1,5 dB and 2.5-3.0 dB compared to convolutional coding for of 64 and 384 kbps data transmission without antenna diversity and that it is decreased by approximately 0.5 dB with antenna diversity reception.
