Analysis of Slotted CSMA/CA for Integrated Voice/Data Transmission in High-speed Wireless LANs

Abstract(in English) Recently, most of large offices, campus classrooms, conference registration are equipped with wiring for conventional LANs, and the inclusion of distributed high-speed wireless LAN (WLAN) in the planning of a large new office building is done as a standard procedure, along with planning for telephone and other different wireless media. The system must be able to provide diverse quality of service to each type of user, such as voice, data messages, video, etc. In this paper, we propose CSMA/CA protocol with random pulse to support multimedia communication of realtime bursty traffic (such as voice or video) and data traffic for distributed high-speed WLANs. In the numerical results, we discuss the effect of different voice and data packet generation rate on network design parameters such as channel utilization and average packet delay and indicate that the network performance can be improved by adequate choice of ratios between collision avoidance periods and transmission periods, and pulse transmission probability.
