Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In previous paper, we have reported about characteristics of the Modified Transmission Line Antenna(MTLA), which is developed for a mobile communication antenna. An analysis of the MTLA has revealed its interesting feature that the input impedance and the gain can be determined independently by appropriately choosing antenna configuration. In this paper, we have proposed a Z-shaped MTLA mounted on a rectangular conducting body of a portable telephone. This antenna system is analyzed by means of Methode of Moment using the wire-grid method. The input impedance, current distribution, gain and radiation pattern are numerically computed. Moreover, for adjusting an operating frequency or the beam tilt, we introduce the Z-shaped MTLA for portable telephone using closed-spaced metal plate or the metal block. Validity of the theory is confirmed by comparison with experiments.
