Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper reports the performance of various cryptographic algorithms on the Z80 8-bit architecture with Toshiba's arithmetic coprocessor. The AES candidate block ciphers (MARS, RC6, Rijndael, Serpent, Twofish, and E2) were implemented. We compared their performance and found that Rijndael was the fastest cipher. On the other hand, many public-key cryptosystems, including RSA key generation and elliptic curve cryptosystems, were also implemented. An RSA 1,024-bit key generation required only 15 seconds and an ECDSA signature generation with 160-bit key required 155 miliseconds.
