Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The WDM System requires the broadband, gain flattened optical amplifiers. Erbium doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) is advantageous because of its high efficiency, low noise, low distortion characteristics. In this report, we propose a 1.58 μm-band EDFA and wavelength tunable ring laser utilizing the long EDF. We used an inline fiber grating laser (FGL) operating at 1.55 μm-band as a co-pump laser of a 1.58 μm-band EDFA. We also propose and demonstrate a widely wavelength tunable EDF ring laser. The wavelength tunable range over 80 nm has been achieved by changing the voltage applied to an intracavity fiber Fabry-Perot filter.
