Chirp control of optical signal using semiconductor optical amplifier

Abstract(in English) We investigated the chirp control of optical signal using phase modulation in semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) by both calculation and experiment. This technique converts the positive chirp of electroabsorption (EA) modulator into negative chirp, and improves the fiber transmission characteristics. We also examined the effect of SOA input power and carrier recovery time.
