Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) AAL 2 (ATM Adaptation Layer type 2) is mainly applied to trunking services between existing STM networks. When constructing the trunking networks, it is useful to connect an AAL 2 trunk system to an STM switch from the outside for the purpose of economical use of the existing systems. It is also desirable that the AAL 2 trunk systems can maintain existing telecommunication services such as facsimile and unrestricted digital communications. This paper describes architectures of the AAL 2 trunk systems in which facsimile and unrestricted digital communications are performed, and also describes problems and the solutions in AAL 2 facsimile communications.
