Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Rain attenuation sometimes causes impact to QoS in FWA (Fixed Wireless Access) networks, which are aimed for supplying users with wireless access services. Especially in real-time calls such as circuit-switched voice calls, QoS of voice calls may be degraded by rain attenuation which results in call disruption. Authors have developed a system to switch over the wireless link to PSTN, which is prepared as a back-up network, based on forecasted the wireless link quality prediction. It tremendously improves the QoS of voice calls by decreasing the probability of call disruption due to rain attenuation. By using time series data of received signal level monitored in actual FWA operation, the fact is verified in this paper by numerical results that show the effectiveness of the system.
