Abstract(in English) We measured and analyzed traffic characteristics of Internet backbone. Results show that performance (cell loss ratio) in Internet backbone depends not only on link utilization but also on number of flows and traffic composition by application. In addition, we clarified that much multiplexing gain could be obtained in Internet backbone, where a large number of flows were multiplexed onto a link, accompanied with the decrease in degree of self-similarity.
