Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We describe our experience of the development of an industrial-strength high-level synthesis environment. This environment, called the Bach system, permits software engineers to develop hardware from reusable designs using a dialect of C, with tools for fast simulation, debugging and synthesis to RT-level VHDL. Bach is under development within an Anglo-Japanese collaboration between Sharp's European research laboratory in Oxford, United Kingdom, and Sharp's Design Technology Development Centre in Tenri, Japan. It has already been used successfully in designs of commercial applications.
