Abstract(in English) Recent studies have suggested that chaotic tachyarrhythmia (cardiac fibrillation) is based on a "spiral wave" with the spontaneous wave breakup (SWB). However, the details of the related mechanisms have still not been clarified. In this study, we employed a one-dimensional Luo-Rudy model to simulate the electrophysiological characteristics of the spiral arm. The influence of the spiral core potential altered the electrophysiological characteristics of the arm. Therefore, alternating action potential duration (APD) along the arm near the core converged, and at the same time, that far from the core diverged. It was highly probable that the first SWB point was in the APD divergent zone beside the APD convergent zone.
