Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) For backup of failed link in ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) networks, many self-healing algorithms have been proposed. Since these algorithms take into account only the order for recovery as a recovery priority, they cannot necessarily provide a failed VP having a higher recovery priority with a larger recovery ratio, which is a ratio of the bandwidth of a failed VP to that of a backup VP. In order to provide a failed VP having a higher recovery priority with a larger recovery ratio, the authors proposed a new self-healing algorithm in which a failed VP was recovered with recovered with one or more backup VPs. However, there may arise in a problem that the proposed algorithm cannot necessarily recover a failed VP having a lower recovery priority when the spare bandwidth for backup VPs is not enough. In this paper, we make an extension to the proposed algorithm so that it can recover a failed VP having a lower recovery priority. We also evaluate its availability by comparing with the proposed algorithm without the extension through simulations.
