A Intrusion Detection and Trace using the Traffic Pattern

Abstract(in English) Recent years, intrusion and illegal access are getting serious problem in the wide area of Internet. So, many detection systems, called IDS (Intrusion Detection System), are studied and developed. Especially, network-based IDS (NIDS) is focused on the detection of the abnormality in Internet traffic. However, NIDS have a problem to handle the network traffic. High-volume traffic in these days makes the analyze difficult. While, IP spoofing is a problem, which is commonly used to spoof the source address of attacker. This paper proposes two techniques, one is pattern-based abnormality detection, and the other is attacker tracking technique under IP spoofing by cooperation of some detection systems. We mention the detection and tracking algorithm based on the similarity of the traffic patterns, and evaluate them with simulation data which derived from real network traffic.
