Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We propose a time-alternating stereo camera system. It is based on a single lens method. In the system, left and right images are formed on the same imaging device in turn by using liquid crystal (LC) shutters. There are no differences between optical or electrical characteristics of left and right images. In this paper, we explain the principle of the time-alternating stereo camera system, and discuss its characteristics, comparing them with ordinary stereo camera systems. We also describe an experimental system used to shoot actual stereo images.
