Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, we investigate a distant lecture system with multimedia-contents in educational organization. In this research, we implemented the international standardized DAVIC (Digital Audio-Visual Council) module in a distributing system and also the international standardized MHEG-Engine. The system is an asymmetrical VOD (Video on Demand) system. It distributes multimedia-contents to user by DSM-CC (Digital Storage Media Command and Control) protocols which are also the international standards. One of the characteristics of this system is that a protocol converter, which is a gateway, harmonizes the terrestrial networks with a satellite network by connecting ATM with RS-422/449. Through the gateway, the system gives the seamless multimedia-content distribution to distant places.
