An Implementation Method of Software DSM over ATM Networks and Evaluation by a Simulator

Abstract(in English) In this paper, we discuss an implementation method of software DSM over ATM networks. Since establishment of ATM Virtual Connection (VC) needs large amount of time and Netowrk Inferface Card (NIC) cannot keep much VCs at a time, we propose a cache consistency protocol that works on a ring topology. As the cell can be lost in ATM Network, this consistency protocol handles message loss error itself in place of network protocols. We also test the proposed protocol used by a parallel program running on a simulator and evaluate its result.
