Abstract(in English) | In general, in order to ensure the safety of a system, high reliability of system components is required. Therefore, one sometimes confuses safety and reliability. However, the safety and the reliability are completely different concepts. This paper describes the results of reviewing common and different characteristics and the relationship between the safety and the reliability. Especially, the outcomes of the Special Committee on Safety and Reliability of the Reliability Engineering Association of Japan (REAJ) are mainly reviewed together with the author's personal view. |
