Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The safety of the North Pacific route system has been evaluated using a collision risk model. The structure of the North Pacific routes was modified in 1998. Lateral separation minimum was reduced from 100 NM to 50 NM. The passing frequency is one of the important parameters of the collision risk model. In this paper, the air traffic flow on the modified routes is investigated and the passing frequency values are calculated. The lateral collision risk is estimated using these values together with the known estimates of the model parameters. The result obtained are as follows. (1) The lateral passing frequency values for opposite and same direction traffic are 0.098 and O.019, respectively. (2) The estimated collision risk value is 2.6×10^<-9> and satisfies the tarqet level of safety value.
