Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A study has been made on a indication system for ARPA data on navigation environment. The study has been made on the following four itemes: (1) Statistical analysis of vessel dimensions and performance characteristics. (2) Captain's observation by means of ARPA and estimation technique for vessel performance characteristics. (3) Modeling of danger rating indexes for navigation environment. (4) Support effect of information for indicating potential dangerous sea areas and voice alarm. The study results are follows: (1) Observation of the captain of a navigating vessel by means of ARPA makes it possible to estimate the performance characteristics of the observed vessel. (2) The area of evasion for a vessel can quantitatively be modeled by using stopping performance and approach speed. (3) Collision prevention supporting effect is improved by indicating the sea areas of potential collision danger on the ARPA screen and voice alarm.
