Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Foregoing researches proposed several types of input devices, such as 3D mouse, joy stick and so on. However, these devices require to place themselves, such as tables. Moreover, users may have difficulties to handle objects in 3D space with such indirect input devices. On the other hand, a direct manipulation method, such as dataglove interface, causes visual mismatch when the devices go between the virtual object and the screen. Therefore, this paper introduces "virtual laser pointer" as the virtual-direct manipulation. A user handles a device which is connected a certain virtual pointer directly. With this method, many users can manipulate virtual objects in a direct manner in the same virtual space, and the system is free from visual mismatch.
