Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The quantum Zeno effect is a seemingly paradoxical phenomenon where a inhibition of transition or a guidance of system is realized without losses in spite of the use of the dissipative processes. It is universal and not restricted to the quantum systems. In this paper as a classical example we report the quautum Zeno effect in a series of off-set spliced optical fibers. We verify the quantum Zeno effect by estimating the transmission coefficient of the fibers. There are two kinds of light propagation modes - wave and ray, and the quantum Zeno effect is found to be peculiar to the former mode. Despite of the discontinuity the transmission coefficient approaches unity as the increase of the number of joints.
