Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A phase compensation is required to obtain stability in a two-gain-stage operational amplifier(opamp). A capacitor is usually used in the phase compensation to keep a phase margin. For opamps used in an LCD driver IC, however, a total phase compensation capacitance is around 1000 pF, since the driver IC contains more than 300 opamps. The phase compensation capacitors increase a chip area. In this article, a phase compensation technique without a capacitor is reported. The proposed compensation introduces a zero by inserting a resistor between an output of the opamp and a capacitive load. A settling time and a low-power potential are described. The experimental results show that the proposed compensation technique is suitable for an opamp with a capacitive load.
