Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A new efficient scheme of transmission power control (TPC) function at high power amplifiers (HPAs) for portable earth stations is proposed. Ku-band amplifier MMICs that followed the proposed swithless PA switching scheme were fabricated and tested. The amplifier MMICs and transmission lines instead of switches were used to construct the HPA which has TPC function by switching two amplifiers. Experimental results show that the 25-dBm class HPA can achieve significant reduction of dc power at low output power levels under transmission power control. Because the scheme can efficiently control HPA's transmission power, it will be used for the HPAs in portable user terminals for satellite communication systems.
