Measurement of ultra-short pulse transmission characteristic of microring resonator Add/Drop filter

Abstract(in English) The ultra-short pulse transmission characteristic of verticallly coupled microring resonator filter was measured and the transmission capacity per channel was evaluated. The pulse width of output from a filter was measured to be 3.4 psec, when an input pulse with 1.2 psec width and a sech^2 pulse shape from a fiber laser was incident on a microring resonator filter with FWHM of 0.75nm(94GHz). From this result, the maximum transmission capacity of this filter was evaluated to be about 50Gbit / sec. The pulse broadening through the filter was theoretically analyzed, and it was seen that the values of pulse broadening evaluated from the bandwidth of filter spectrum response is in good agreement with the measured results.
