Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Time-to-wavelength mapped lasers(TWML)are mode-locked sources which incorporate an element in the cavity that maps a unique transit delay to a given input wavelength. One way that such an element may be realized is to use a concatenation of fiber Bragg gratings. These lasers are tuned by varying the mode-locking frequency. Since the wavelength is fixed by intracavity filtering elements, it has the potential for high wavelength reproducibility and may fulfill the requirements needed for fast tunable lasers in wavelength-routed networks. We show how these lasers can be used to make a simple wavelength router where a subcarrier frequency serves as a routing address.
