| 抄録(和) | 濃淡画像として入力される文字パターンを,情報損失の多い2値化処理を施さずに,濃淡画像で直接認識する手法が注目されている.本報告では,雑音耐性を備えたアフィン変換不変の濃淡文字相関法を提案する.まず,雑音耐性強化のために,(1)定正準化に基づく正規化相互相関をマッチング尺度とし,さらにアフィン変換による変形を吸収するために,(2)入力濃淡文字画像に大局的アフィン変換(GAT)を反復適用して参照濃淡文字画像との最大相関値を検出する.特に,正規化相互相関を最大にするGAT成分の決定には逐次代入法による線形解法を採用し,さらに最適GATの探索効率を高めるために濃度勾配情報を活用する.本手法を広範囲のアフィン変換とガウス雑音を重畳した濃淡文字画像に適用し,高いマッチング能力を確認した. |
| 抄録(英) | Direct recognition of gray-scale character images without the usual preprocessing step of binarization is very promising from the viewpoint of making the best use of the shape characteristics of the original image. This paper introduces a new technique of affine-invariant correlatiorm of gray-scale images by reinforcing correlation-based matching in two ways. First is the clear formulatiorn of normalized cross-correlation using definite canonicalization and blurring to realize robustness against image degradation. Second is the application of iterative global affine transformation (GAT) to the input image so as to realize the maximal affine-invariant correlation with the target image based on an enhanced criterion using topographic-feature constraints. The advantages and effectiveness of the proposed method are both shown theoretically and demonstrated through preliminary experiments using gray-scale character images subject to a wide range of affine transformation and random Gaussian noise. |
