Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In face recognition system, there is a problem that the recognition rate fails rapidly by the factor of facial rotation. This is because the drastic variation appears on the images by facial rotation apparently, even if it is the face of the iderntical person. In this report, we propose a new face recognition algorithm that is possible to recogonize armong the face images with different orientation. this algorithm uses 3D shape model of facial local area centered on feature point and the texture mapping method. By the recognition experiment that used 100 images, our system achieved a recognition rate of 95% by the comparison between frontal faces and 40 degree rotated faces in depth. This result is rather the same rate than result among frontal faces.
