Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This technical report presents an algorithm and its imaging sensor system that can estimate rotational and translational motions of an object. The algorithm, based on the so called elementary motion detectors, has its low computational cost and can perform such motion detection in real time even when it is implemented in a low cost hardware device environment. Provided multiple imaging sensors are placed in such a way that the optical axis of each sensor's lens is aligned orthogonally to each other, the image planes of certain group of these sensors have optical flow patterns that can be described by global motion vectors. Utilizing this feature, rotational and translational motions are estimated by the algorithm.
