Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We present a method for 3D object recognition which is independent of the scene. The method compares a 3D description of the scene which is generated using stereo vision with the geometric models of target objects and estimates the pose of the object in the scene. First, it coarsely estimates the pose of the model in the scene. Next, it searches correspondences between the models and the scene data in order to verify the coarse estimation and inprove its accuracy. For obtaining correct recognition results, we need to decide appropriate matching parameters according to the observation scenes. The method sets automatically these parameters based on the measurement error of stereo vision. We show experimental results demonstrating the proposed method can perform scene-independent object recognition.
