Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A rapid growth of the Internet leads to demands for building next-generation high-speed & high-quality Internet, raising several research problems that we need to challenge. Those include(1)QoS guarantee mechanism for real-time applications, (2)technologies for high-speed backbone network, (3)technologies for high-speed protocols, (4)technologies for high-speed protocol processing and end hosts, (5)re-allocation for the network-related functionalities, (6)fairness issues for elastic applications, (7)technologies for network provisioning, and(8)fundamental theories for packet-switched networks. In this article, we first overview the current technological status in turn, and then future directions for resolving those issues are examined.
