Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this research, we propose a mobile robot control interface using omnidirectional images and 3D geometric models for efficient surveillance of a remote environment. Acquired by an omnidirectional camera and an omnidirectional laser range finder on the mobile robot, omnidirectional live video and a miniaturized 3D geometric model are both presented on a wide field-of-view dome display to give an operator egocentric and exocentric views at the same time. A set of gyro mouse based interaction is also provided to allow the operator control the mobile robot as well as viewing attributes of the 3D model. A prototype system has shown feasibility of the proposed interface.
