Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper proposes an efficient lossless coding scheme for color still images. In this scheme, one of R, G, B signals is predicted from not only the casual area of itself, but already encoded other signals. An adaptive prediction method based on block classification is applied to each signal, and predictors used in the method are optimized so that a coding rate of the signal can have a minimum. Furthermore an appropriate order of coding of the three signals is estimated prior to actual encoding. Simulation results indicate that coding rates of the proposed scheme are 0.78 ~ 2.44 bits/pel lower than those of JPEG-LS.
