Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Incremental processing and binding of phonological, syntactic, and semantic information make it possible to understand spoken language in a remarkably short time course. To investingate into the nature of information binding processes, cortical activities were measured by fMRI while participants were performing a cross-modal matching task with compound words, simple words, and pseudo-words. The results indicated a deep involvement of bilateral insula in phonological processing and the left posterior inferior temporal lobe in semantic processing.
