Single-fiber Bi-directional Module using Polymer Optical Waveguide

Abstract(in English) This paper describes a Single-fiber bi-directional module for optical data communication systems using PCS (Polymer Clad Silica) in automobile or the home. This module consists of VCSEL(λ=805nm, 855nm) as the light source, Si PIN-PD as the receiver, and polymer optical waveguide (which is good for productivity used for coupling or splitting the optical rays). Using an optical filter set-up between the PD and optical waveguide, results in cutting the wavelength of crosstalk. Experiments have confirmed that prototype modules have receiver sensitivity of -27.6dBm@805nm and -25.7dBm@855nm, and a power penalty of less than 1.4dB at 500Mbps.
