Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have numerically analyzed the characteristics of an all-optical 3R regenerator using a polarization bistable vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL). We used rate equations taking into account gain saturation in the VCSEL and detunings of the incident optical beam frequency from the cavity resonant frequency of the VCSEL. This 3R regeneration has a large optical gain of about 16 dB for 10 Gbit/s. The ON-OFF ratio is improved by the 3R regeneration for signals up to 160 Gbit/s. When signal inputs are strong and clock pulses are weak, the ON-OFF ratio of the regenerated signals increases.
