Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A PLC connector that consists of a multi-channel receptacle interface in PLC-based optical modules, is a key component of the fiber management on board (FMOB) technique that provides economical high-density optical board packaging. In this report, we describe a novel super-multiple PLC connector designed to realize high-density connection between 100+waveguides and 100+fibers, for the packaging of super-multichannel optical modules through the use of the FMOB technique. This connector utilizes an angled endface connection to achieve a high return loss. The fabricated 32-fiber connector exhibited low connection and high return losses of 0.25 and 60 dB, respectively, and sufficient temperature durability.
