Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Learning is necessary for a subject to move a hand to a target in a straight forward manner under the center-directed force field. The force direction was randomly switched either to the left or right in accordance with the one color cue from two alternatives previously noticed every trial on the display. After a few hundred trials, the subject learned and could moved his hand straightforward from a start to end point, irrespective of random change in the force direction. Then we investigated the subject's performance in response to the abrupt exchange of the force directions relative to the two colors. He could adapted to the new relation after a few trials, and there was no exponential decay in the performance error suggests. This result suggests that the latter learning should not be due to motor learning, but may be due to cognitively processed switching.
