Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) It is an unsettled fundamental issue whether or not synchronous firing of neurons is information carrier. In this study we propose a new hypothesis that synfiring of neurons can carry information about degree of success on the information processing. In order to verify this hypothesis theoretically, we investigate syfiring in a layered associative neural network model, keeping syfire chain in mind. In this model, couplings between neurons involve synapse weights to produce spatially uniform correlation between neurons in layers that induces syfiring. We show that the correlation that parameterizes synfirings in layers varies depending on memory retrieval of pattern series embedded in the network. We conclude that the correlation of neuronal firings provides us a measure of success of information processing.
