Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Two sets of booster equipment are developed to provide IMT-2000 service to a blind area such as in a building or underground mall. The thermal noise generated by these boosters degrades the uplink capacity of a base station. In this paper, we evaluate this capacity degradation, propose an automatic gain control method to reduce the degradation, and investigate the effectiveness of the proposed method. The automatic gain controlled booster provides service in a radius of 100 meters with only a 2% degradation in capacity. A fixed-gain 45-dB booster provides service in a radius of 20 meters with only a 2% degradation in capacity.
